Does the tree make sound?

if any way of comunication divides in three... emisor, c and receptor so the tree make sound waves then the emisor ( tree) and c ( waves ) are present can we say that the tree make a sound but the receptor is missing ? or that waves become sound only if a receptor is present ?? bottom line, does it make a sound??
