I have chickHEN 5.03 on a psp 3002 is it possible to uninstall the software.how do you know if its bricked?

My psp was running all my chickHEN games fine but suddenly they just wont run so i think there may be some corruption on the memory stick or something like that .plzz say its not bricked. also i have heard that deleting it is as simple as turing your psp off and then on.but i dont want to upgrade firmware till i know that chickHEN is fully off my psp.i have bought a new memory stick should i just use that a things will be ok
