Guest book at the wedding?

i dont really want to have a normal old guest book at my wedding, I was thinking about placing a 4x4 piece of scrapbooking paper at everyones eats probabley on top of their plates that says " wishs and wisdom for the bride and groom" that way i can put these in a book later and its more personal. What do you think? also, it would add some color to our tables along with the centerpieces.
